What’s built on top of that foundation, however, looks different not just visually but also philosophically, providing the kind of change needed to help keep the franchise fresh. For all intents and purposes, the base foundation of catching and battling Pokemon remains the same. When comparing “Pokemon Sun” and “Pokemon Moon” to the classic formula that pervaded the initial games in the series, you can say that the difference is like night and day - pun so totally intended. For Pokemon’s seventh generation of games, however, it is quite clear that Nintendo and Game Freak are not simply going through the motions. Most of the time, the fall of a franchise can be traced to complacency or a failure to evolve.
